We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new Active Volcano Hiking Tour: Explore Kirishima’s Shinmoedake!

The Kirishima mountain range is home to numerous active volcanoes, including Shinmoedake, Mt. Karakuni, Takachiho-no-mine, and Onami Pond. This region boasts a rich array of geosites and a unique ecosystem of endemic flora and fauna. The foothills also deeply reflect the influence of these volcanoes in their landscapes, culture, history, agriculture, and local cuisine.

Currently, Shinmoedake is at eruption alert level 3, prohibiting entry within a 3 km radius. Our hiking tours prioritize your safety.

We will carefully consider the day’s weather and eruption status to maintain a sufficient safe distance. The tour course will be determined in consultation with our guests’ preferences.
