Kagoshima: Kirishima Volcano Trek & Bento Lunch | Guided National Park Hiking Tour
Time : 6hours~
¥24000~ per person (Price varies depending on group size)
There are very few places in the world where you can walk beside an active volcano. Kirishima is one of them.
Nestled in the mountains of southern Kyushu, Kirishima National Park is a landscape shaped by fire — where steam still rises from craters, ancient myths come alive on the mountain trails, and the silence of nature is only broken by the earth itself. This guided trek brings you into the heart of it all.

This guided volcano trekking tour takes you deep into Kirishima National Park — one of Japan’s most dramatic natural landscapes — for approximately 6 hours of hiking, sightseeing, and storytelling. Departing from multiple convenient pickup points by private van, your professional English-speaking guide leads you through volcanic terrain with active craters, ancient mountain peaks including Mt. Takachiho-no-mine, and sweeping views across Kyushu.
All hiking equipment, national park entry fees, and a special Japanese bento lunch are included. Overseas participants are also covered by mountaineering insurance — everything is taken care of so you can simply enjoy the experience.

Walking the Volcanic Landscape
Volcanic activity is monitored daily by our team, and routes are adjusted to ensure your safety at all times. As you walk the trails, your guide explains the geology of the park — the lava flows underfoot, the sulphuric notes in the air, the raw power of the earth that created these mountains. It is humbling, exhilarating, and unlike anything else in Japan.
Mt. Takachiho-no-mine: Where Japanese Mythology Begins
According to the Kojiki — Japan’s oldest written chronicle — the gods descended from the heavens to this very mountain. Your guide brings these ancient stories to life as you walk, weaving together the natural and mythological history of this sacred place.

Lunch in the Mountains: A Japanese Bento Like No Other
Halfway through your trek, pause at a scenic rest point and enjoy a specially prepared Japanese bento box made with local Kagoshima ingredients. There is something about eating in the open air, surrounded by volcanic peaks and forest silence, that makes even simple food taste extraordinary. This is the moment many guests say they remember most.
A Landscape for Every Season
Kirishima transforms throughout the year — vivid azalea blooms in spring, deep summer greens, fiery autumn leaves, and frost-covered peaks in winter. Whenever you visit, you will find a landscape that feels made just for that moment.

Volcano trekking sounds daunting — but it doesn’t have to be.
Our team conducts daily safety checks on volcanic activity and adjusts routes accordingly. Mountaineering insurance is included for all overseas participants, and all necessary hiking gear is provided. You don’t need to bring anything special — just a sense of adventure.
First-time hikers are very welcome. Our guides set the pace based on your group, and no prior trekking experience is required.
